Millard South High School utilizes Naviance to assist us and our students in managing the college and career planning process. Naviance is a comprehensive website that students and parents can use as a tool in planning for their future.  Registration code information for students and parents can be obtained by contacting the Counseling Office.

Do What You Are
This personality assessment helps students focus on who they are and what educational path is best for them. Students complete the Self Discovery Assessment in 30 to 45 minutes and receive useful personality type information as well as individual suggestions for careers and college majors.

Explore Careers
Explore information on hundreds of careers. Each career listed has four tabs: an overview which includes a job description and related occupations, knowledge and skills, tasks and activities and wages.

Explore Interests
The Career Interest Profiler is a tool that can help you discover the types of work activities and careers that match your interests. The interest profiler has 180 questions about work activities that people do at their jobs.

Career Interests Game  (U. of Missouri) 
This quick exercise is based on Holland's theory that people and work environments can be classified into six different groups: Realistic, Investigative, Social, Artistic, Enterprising, or Conventional. Check it out!

Nebraska Career Connections - This site is a collaborative effort of several state and nonprofit organizations to coordinate resources and services accessible to all Nebraskans. Nebraska Career Connections is a resource to assist students and adults with career exploration and planning, educational planning and preparation, job seeking and skill development. Contact the Counseling Department for username and password.

Nebraska CareerLink - Super site right here in Omaha. It includes apprenticeship programs for high school students and a rather good job listing for adults.

Nebraska Workforce Development - Lots of information about local employment opportunities.

ASVAB Program: - This site has information about the ASVAB test and give information as to how the ASVAB can help you in career exploration and planning for the future.

Exploring: - Explorer Posts are worksite-based programs that give young people one-on-one experience with professionals in a variety of careers. It's a chance for you to learn about career choices, increase self-esteem and develop potential employment contacts. Students can choose from several career fields, including aviation, business, engineering, health care, law enforcement and more.  Take the survey and receive invitations to exploring posts related to your areas of interest.

Job Hunters Bible - From the author of "What Color is my Parachute", Dick Bolles, this site is designed as a supplement to his book. Lots of very practical information here!

Coolworks  - Jobs in National Parks and other cool places! Great site to find the perfect summer job in a vacation spot!

Summer Opportunities - There are thousands of summer jobs, camps, and volunteer programs listed here. It is a page from Peterson's (College and Career Info).

The Student Conservation Association  - The SCA provides expense-paid internships for college kids to work in US Forests, National Parks and Wildlife Refuges on conservation projects. It provides 15 - 19 year olds with volunteer opportunities.
