or most students the school day
began at 8 a . m., but not for
band members! Their day started
with a 7:15-8 :50 a .m. practice.
It was this dedication that helped
them perform well. "I think dedication
is what a person needs to stick it out.
If you are nQt dedicated, you will
never make it through the year,"
commented one member.
Dedication is what it did take
during the year. Three weeks prior to
every home football game, they
rehearsed a new half-time routine,
and when that season finished they
played pep band music at every
home basketball game and school
pep rally.
Beyond this they played in three
concerts for parents and marched in
two marching band contests and
entered one concert contest. At
Plattsmouth Marching Contest, the
band received a superior rating.
Adding more experience, they
provided some lively music at the
official opening of the new hallway
leading to the 11-12 Building .
Furthermore they let the
community know about their worth by
marching in the St . Patrick's Day
Parade as a benefit for the March of
Dimes.
Even though the school year
ended June 3, the band stayed
together and practiced every Tues-
day evening for two hours so they
could march in the June 12 Millard Day
Parade. This practice continued
throughout the summer.
Marching in the St. Patrick's Day Parade, which is Practice makes perfect, as the bond found out
a special event in Millard, is the Millard North bond. after performing well at their first concert in the
Fall.
