                Earn State

wimmers and divers boasted not only of
           S
                team accomplishments but individual stan-
douts. Those early daily morning practices
from 5:30-7:00 and then again after school from
3:30-5:30 really paid off. For swimmers Kevin
Kearns it meant a first place finish at State in the
100 yard butterfly, third place in the 50 yard free,
and a place in the gallery of champions.
Tonia Quick and Jamie Morrow also made
their mark at State by bringing home third place
medals of their own. In addition both were eligible
for All-American honors, in diving at State. "I felt
really confident abc5ut what I had to do at State
and I went out and attacked the other competi-
tion," said Quick. Morrow felt the medal gave him
more confidence and incentive for next year. "I
know I can do it now," he said.
As a team though, the boys finished sixth and
the girls second at State. "I knew that I had a
bunch of hard working kids and it showed by our
accomplishments at State," said coach Bruce
Carr. However, prior to State there were other
achievements along the way. For example,
several school records were broken as shown on
this spread. Both teams held 8-0 dual records and
the boys placed fourth at Metro while the girls
placed second. Other highlights were a first place
finish at the Papio relay for the boys and a first
place finish for the girls at the Ram Relays and
           the Millard South lnvitationals.
