do at the opening of the season . They suc-
cessfully completed this.

esh .
Because of the injuries. several sopho-
mores received their chance to play on JV . I
Sophomore Alan Rikke said, " I worked real-
ly hard all season. and it felt good to know
that I could play on the JV level." Alfrey
said. "The sophomores did not have as
much experience. but they did a good job.
It gave them opportunities for next year."
Other setbacks were the losses the
team accumulated. but they always kept
going . Alfrey continued. saying, "Even
though the football team did not have a lot
of athletic ability, they never threw in the
towel."
The athletic ability they had went a
long way. Junior Jason Foster led the team
in rushing and Junior Steve Caughlin led in
the passing category. The top scorer for
the season was Junior Lantz Hunt . The de-
fensive leaders were Juniors Rich Shepherd,
Brian Wilkenson. and Dale Johannes.
Each player put forth effort to help the
team come up on top. These efforts were
seen in the advancemenf of players to var-
sity and the team's wins . Alfrey said, "The
JV football program could have been frus-
trating at times and exciting at others. Even
though we were working with different
players each week. due to injuries and pro-
motions to Varsity. the main goal was still
to have a successful varsity
program." _/
