Team Pulls
Together
Boys Tennis started off well with wins
against Millard South, Papio, and Omaha
South. The end result was an 8-1 record for
the year.
Other than playing on the team, some
team members played tennis beyond the
tennis season. During the summer, Fresh-
man David Skid won the Nebraska Closed
Tennis Tournament which led him to be the
Number One player among all Nebraska 14
year olds . Other off-season players includ-
ed Juniors Jon Fischer . Tim Naprstek. and
Senior Jeff Dunn .
Although players had different activi-
ties in tennis, they had the same style in ten-
nis clothing. It was usually kept simple and
very comfortable with tee shirts . shorts . and
sweatshirts for practice as well as for
matches. Two popular rackets used were
the Prince Graphite Pro and the Wilson
Sting which were just as important if not
more than the tennis clothing.
Coach John Carroll was an asset to the
team according to Senior Matt Hill. " He
knew how we played tennis and was able
to relate to us and correct our mistakes."
Carroll said during the seven years he has
been coaching, this was definitely one of
the better years overall.
Good matches for the team included
winning second at the Fremont Invitational
and first at the Millard North Invito-
tional. _/
