The Mr. Mustang Contest is one of the many highlights
    of the Homecoming pep rally . Senior  Tom  Lake, one

                                                                                     The year was a success. Goals  were
                                                                                     set and achieved, friends were made, and
                                                                                     students learned a little more about them-
                                                                                     selves . There was achievement in all the ar-
                                                                                     eas of school: organizations, sports, and in-
                                                                                     dividual accomplishments.
                                                                                         School  organizations  excelled locally
                                                                                     and nationally.  This  year's one act play,
                                                                                     " Babies  Having  Babies" ,  took second at
                                                                                     Districts . Two debate teams qualified for
                                                                                     the Tournament of Champions in Louisville ,
                                                                                     Kentucky. Both  forensics  and debate had
                                                                                     national qualifiers .
                                                                                         Sports  teams strived for the top and
                                                                                     their hard work paid off. Both boys and girls
                                                                                     cross  country teams made it to State. Boys
                                                                                     and girls  gymnastics teams won districts
                                                                                     and made State competition as  well.  The
                                                                                     highlight of the year was when the girls  var-
                                                                                     sity  volleyball  team  won  the  Nebraska
                                                                                     State  Volleyball  Championship  and
                                                                                     brought home the school's first  State sports
                                                                                     trophy  ever.
                                                                                         Individuals also  excelled.  Because  of
                                                                                     sign ificantly higher  ACT  and SAT  scores
                                                                                     than the national norm,  many prestigious
                                                                                     colleges  came  to  recruit  students.  Al-
                                                                                     though it  was  uncommon for  a  public
                                                                                     school,  a  high  percentage of the sen ior
                                                                                     class  planned  to go on to college.
                                                                                         Because of the hard work and dedica-
                                                                                     tion of many individuals and groups, the stu-
                                                                                     dent body was truly In  A Class  By  Itself .
