DIAMOND IN
THE ROUGH
Catching a ball for football,
kicking a ball for soccer, or serv·
ing one for volleyball or tennis
were all parts of the sports pro·
grams this year.
Many different reasons ex·
isted for why students partici·
pated in sports. One was to meet
new friends.
"I tried out for the bowling
team because I wanted to meet
people and have a little fun doing
it," senior Carty Dunn said.
Others saw it as an opportu·
nity to learn new things.
"Golf helped me to gain bet·
ter aspects on self leadership by
working with other people on my
team," senior Nate Hammond said.
And some athletes saw it as a
good way to stay in shape.
"By competing in track I not
only stayed in shape, but I gave
myself a better chance at a schol·
arship," senior MiebeUe Peteraen
said.
Whatever sports students
chose to participate in, their skills
became like a diamond eoming out
ol the rough.
