                                                            ••••••••••••••

As students began to adapt to their second year of high school, there
were many factors that made for this year to be even better than the last.
Some sophomores thought there was a big difference from this year
and their freshman year, while others saw it as almost the same thing a
                    year later.
"I don't think that anything is that different. I played baseball, so I
knew a lot of people already. The only thing that has changed is that I
have more homework, and I have to write more papers now," sophomore
                    Shane Brewer said.
Aside from the obvious changes in the school year, such as getting
more work the further along you go in school, students had other privileges
                    that came about.
"I like this year a-lot better because I am sixteen, and I can drive, not
to mention all my friends who can drive as well. There is also finally people
below you in the grades, so I am not the freshman anymore. And because
of that, I don't have to worry so much," sophomore Cody Bandars said.
So as students were adapting, things in general became more com-
fortable. Sophomore Matt Cameron said that part of why he liked this
year better than last was because of that very thing.
"I really feel like I know what is going on now. I know where every-
thing is located, including the counseling center and the student help room.
I also have a better idea of exactly how the high school classroom works,"
                    Cameron said.
Students also said that teachers noticed the older class ages. Sopho-
more Libby Hansen said that there was also more freedom that went with
                    being older.
"I think that teachers gave us more freedom in class, and they were
much more flexible with students than last year," Hansen said.
Whether it was writing papers for a class or driving a car for the first
time, sophomores definitely found that this year had even more advan-
                    tages than last year.
