Broadcast Club and Lit Mag empowered the student voice.
From discovering an artistic talent to letting the school kn ow what's
new, Broadcast and Literary Magaz in e clubs always communicated the
thoughts of th e student popul ation.
MN99 News acquired new ca meras and editing eq uipment this
yea r, and added "Weird Facts Frid ay ." Th e news was a key part in
kee ping students clued in on club meetin gs, sporting eve nts, and prac-
tices.
"We had a new computer that ca n do all sorts of cool backgrounds
and it makes the new look a lot more offi cial and profess ional," junior
Dana Coury sa id .
LitMag also provided a creative outlet. Th ey met eve ry Thursday and
gathered artwork and writings of fell ow students to produce a coll ective
yea rl y magaz in e.
"LitMag is important because eve ryone needs a place where they
ca n ex press themse lves, and LitMag is a place where I ca n express my-
se lf in my own way. Plu s Mr. B is the man! " Senior jon Hawkins sa id.
Not onl y did they publish the Literary Magaz in e and se ll it, LitMag
was also kn own for putting on an annual Open Mic Night in the sp rin g.
"Th e Open Night is really fun, you get to find out th e kid who sits
behind you in class ca n sing or write. It's like the ultimate surprise,"
junior Mike Davidson sa id.
Not only did they kee p pee rs inform ed, Literary Magaz in e and
Broadcast Club created an opening for student voice and creativity.
