lost in the monotony of school days,
weeks flew by.
our voices, however, did not sit dormant.
with the announcement of new homecoming rules
we rose the volume,
writing petitions against dirty dancing and costume bans.
from the glow of an illuminated stage,
the choir belted lyrics to a packed auditorium.
and perched atop tables,
the junior-senior chanted filled the crevices of the cafeteria.
we used our voices, shouting for a purpose.
