Students screamed their
hearts out under the
friday night lights.
Lightning struck, thunder boomed, but even louder than mother nature came the
screaming of freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Braving the wind and the
storm, the MN student section didn't let up even for a sudden storm.
That was the scene at the varsity football game against Burke. While the chilly
winds and oncoming storm were enough to get fans psyched, students
found ways to pump up the atmosphere even more.
"I loved the energy in the student section, especially during the junior/
senior chant, because it was fun to scream at the top of your lungs. It
got everyone hyped up in the middle of the game when you were
usually starting to get tired," senior Chelsea Jansen said.
But where did all of this energy come from? While not all the credit
should go to this year's senior helmet man, Mike Otten, this blessed
'chosen one' has the duty to keep up that atmosphere through
out every game.
"I got jacked before the games by listening to Riot Maker
by Tech N9ne, and me and pretty much the whole front
row would mosh in 'The Mancave' ," Otten said. "I always
yelled so much that when we replenished our fluids at some-
one's house afterwards, I had to put ice on my throat."
Whether it's losing your voice from screaming at the juniors and
seniors, or just yelling to support the team, MN students came
together in a chorus of voices.
