Sitting in the fifth row of
bleachers. between the bench
and the other parents. he is
anxious and nervous for his
daughter.
Both teams finally come out
of the locker room to warmup.
Soon the buzzer rings to warn
the game is ready to begin.
The starters. after receiving
instructions from their coaches
are ready for the jump. The
opponent wins the jump and
brings the ball down court and
scores.
North comes down and sets
up. As they run through their
offense he can see a lot of
improvement in the girls.
Jump shots are smoother.
the "D" is a little tougher and
the offense is running smoother.
He watches his own
daughter. taking mental note of
all she does.
"Still starts with a small step
when breaking to cut. Doesn't
like to fake beJore a shot. Plays
too far back on defense. Has a
nice foul shot, good follow
through."
Suddenly the referee makes
a questionable call.
"Hey ref. get in the game.
watch it would you," he yells as
the opponent receives the ball
to take it out ..Qf bounds.
After a long second half full
of action and valid attempts for
North to overcome the opposi-
tion. the final buzzer sounds . The
opposition has again emerged
the winner.
While he waits for his
daughter to come from the
locker room he goes over the
game in his head. "If only they
had passed here, if that shot
was made, if they had pressed
here." None of it does any
good, the game is over.
