Reaching out
T
he school year was filled with
opportunities for students to learn
more about themselves and about the
things that interest them.
Through the Career Center, POP,
Personal Opportunity Program was set up.
This was designed to help students learn
more about different jobs that could be
opened to them in the future or that may
eventually tie in with their hobbies and
interests.
Darlene Geiger, from the Career Center
said, "We've had very good turnouts."
The school had community sponsors
come and talk for an hour on their career.
During the year, students looked
forward to seeing such programs as; Career
Opportunity in health, in office, computer's
representatives, aviation, Recreation careers,
auto mechanics, nursing. accounting, and
jobs in math and science.
Early in the year, the Career Center
sponsored a POP on the Epidemic - Drugs.
They showed a film for this one and,
according to Geiger, "More than three
fourths of the students saw it."
With local sponsors, students felt more
opportunities were within their reach.
A penny for your thoughts - Luke Seeman takes notes
while watching one of the many POP programs offered
in the auditorium.
