It takes
Spirit
W hat is the most important part
of any sport next to the game
itself? Spirit and fan support
ranks a close second. And who better to
lead the fans but cheerleaders. The
Varsity and J.V. cheerleaders have helped
the Mustangs on.
It may look like an easy job, but it
is far from it. Each squad has to perfect
their cheers at practice. Both practice at
least twice a week. There are other things
to learn besides cheers though. Varsity
cheerleader Kay White says that "it's

Sometimes a last minute practice has
to take place before games. "We should
practice more at practices because we're
not as prepared as we should be," thinks
Varsity cheerleader Cristy Miller. It is not
always easy to pick up a routine.
It paid off when they got the crowd
to cheer along with them. At some J.V.
games, not many showed up to back their
team. "It's really frustrating when you
yell and there's no one yelling back," said
J. V. captain Lora Schordock.
This summer the cheerleaders will go
to camp and learn some new cheers to
urge the Mustangs on to victory.
