"Ready?
Okay!"
Do you think you have what it takes
to be a cheerleader? Does picking gravel out
of your knees, yelling "Hold that line" and
memorizing dozens of other cheers or
standing in a short skirt in a cold drizzle
when it is thirty degrees out sound
enticing? Then you definitely have enough
spirit to supply a whole squad! These were
just a few of the many conditions the new
freshmen had to get used to, and the
sophomores were reacquainted with.
If you are wondering why anyone would
want to be exposed to these conditions, talk
to a cheerleader and she will probably tell
you that she th!._nks it is fun. "Even though
I'm usually nervous, I really feel good when
I can get the crowd to respond to our cheers
and get spirited. It makes the team feel
good about what they're doing." Freshman
Cari Murtfeld stated.
All in all, the squads started the year
with much enthusiasm and ended it with
the same: a real asset to the teams they
supported.
Sophomore cheerleaders
show their spirit.
