again! You can do it! For ten years, these
words of encouragement have been given
to the handicapped students learning to swim.
This volunteer program was open to students Tammi Sellers

from Millard North, South, and Westside High Paul Shaffer
Schools . MN facilities were used on Thursdays
durins sixth hour, as they had been for the past
three years. Of the forty-five volunteers involved
in this program, most were seniors who were
back for their second or third year of helping. Eric Shaw

Denny Owens was asked if the helpers liked this Larry Shedenhelm
program, he commented, " Well, two-thirds are
back again this year."
One senior that came back to help again this
year was Skip Hanson . Hanson thought the
program was really good and he and the other Penny Sherman
volunteers enjoyed helping these handicapped Jeff Shimonek

This physical therapy program was fun and
educational for both the handicapped students
and the volunteers. Everyone involved in it had
something to gain, whether it was making a new
friend or just having a good feeling of helping
someone else.
When the school year ended, the han-
dicapped students went to the Red Cross to
continue their program. Both students and
volunteers took with them a feeling of
accomplishment and many new friends
