Come Hear
the Noise
ypically when a person thinks of
T
concerts, they think of Rock concerts
with loud, wild music and screaming
fans .
Why would someone go to a concert
where the noise of enthusiastic fans would
drown out the music? The answers were
different for every person. Some went to
get a peek at their favorite group or idol;
others went to hear the live music . As
Sophomore Lesl ie Major said, " sometimes
records and MTV aren 't good enough .
There is nothing like live music ."
" I go only for the mus ic, " is what one
junior said about the concerts she
attended, while Senior Sue Roads cla imed
she goes " to have a good"time; to dance."
Sophomore Amy Barton, who attend-
ed the Rick Springfield/ Cory Hart Lincoln
concert said " It was great! Springfield got
everyone off their seats and cheering."
Other concerts seen in Omaha and
Lincoln were Van Halen in June, and Quiet
Riot in January Bruce Springsteen also
brought his group, the E Street Band, to

Other types of concerts in classical
and jazz, also attracted younger audiences.
' The Omaha based group, Fresh Aire-
Mannheim Steemroller had three sold out
concerts in December. Sophomore Gret-
chen Bishop, who attended one of the
concerts, said she was surprised at the
youngness of the audience and added " It
• was great!" Overall, great seemed to be
the most popular word used to describe
concerts.
