the Mustangs where finished, they weren't.
Senior Scott Dingfield caught the kickoff and
ran 85 yards to make it 14-9. Mustang fans
screamed in excitement as the Indians then
fumbled the ball away with the clock ticking.
However, South held the Mustangs at the
Indian 5 yard line. But unfortunately a pass
from Senior Quarterback Mike Preston was
incomplete and the Indians won with a 14-9
victory.
In the first game of the season against
Papillion, both teams were scoreless at the
beginning of halftime. Finally the Mustangs
took charge as Junior Pat Friend ran 53 yards
for the touchdown. Even though Papio had
scored 1 0 points, the Mustangs came back
with a 38 yard drive by Dingfield and the
Mustangs held on to win 20-17.
In the game against Omaha North, the
Mustangs walked away with a 14-0 victory.
On their first drive, they went 54 yards to
score on a run by Friend with a little less than
8 minutes left in the first quarter.
~ Coach Petito summarized the season by
saying, "We got a really good performance
out of everybody."
