impressive year. Many records were
broken and rebroken.
The team's dual record was 8-0. For
the boys, this season was the first time
they had beaten Millard South. "The girls
won their duals pretty easily because of
their talent," said Sophomore Kevin Kearns .
Boys and girls both placed third at the
Metro Championships. At State the boys
placed seventh, while the girls took sixth
place. Westside's dynasty again took first
place in both Boys and Girls State
Championships .
Most members of the teams felt that
Westside and Lincoln Southeast were their
toughest competitors. "Burke was also a
heavy favorite, mostly because of top
individual performances," said Kearns.
Performance was hard to maintain
sometimes. "We had much illness. We all
had colds and coughs," said Sophomore
Tonia Quick.
Quick also said, "We had to be
mentally ready. We had to go into the meet
with a positive attitude to do well."
Attitudes and time paid off at State.
