worn plaid shorts matched with

overalls to school without being laughed
at?
It had to be Spirit Week.
Students started off the week showing
their spirit by wearing sunglasses on
Monday. Overalls were seen Tuesday, and
even nerds had spirit on Wednesday. The
only problem was that sometimes it was
hard to tell if people had dressed for the
occasion.
The Homecoming Pep Rally held
Wednesday was full of excitement. The
"Mr. Mustang" competition was held for
the second year in a row, with the new
winner, Tony Lopes, strutting away with
the title and the crown. DECA announced
the winners of their raffle held that week,
and some students walked away with the
latest fad, Cabbage Patch Dolls. Ten senior
guys wobbled their ways out to the senior
members of the drill team on big wheels
to display their talent in dancing.
Even with no beachfronts and palm
trees in sight, students dressed for the
occasion Thursday. That night, a new
tradition was begun with the first annual
bonfire. Spirits of both students and
faculty were high as the evening climaxed
with the burning of the Bellevue West
football player dummy. But the celebration
did not end with the extinguishing of the
fire. It was carried forward with Blue and
Silver Day, Friday, to the big Homecoming
game . The Mustangs geared up and
defeated Bellevue West 29-9 .
Spirits rode high as students awaited
the end of Spirit Week at the Homecoming
Dance Saturday Night.
How can you try to remain distinguished and still
be a " nerd"? Sen iors Mindy Jensen , Herb
Ruprecht and carmella Abola give it a try in the
11 -12 commons .
Proud winner of the car decorating contest, Senior
Jim Devney shows it off at the Homecoming game .
