The varsity baseball team was ranked first
in the state.
For three consecutive weeks the team held
the Number One seat. All Stater Ryan Schaake
said, "It was a great feeling to be seated so high.
We worked hard and deserved it."
Contributing to being on the top started off
with a winning record of 20-4. At Districts they
took second place, having one loss to the Benson
Bunnies. However, that did-not disqualify them
from playing in the state tournament.
Defeating Northwest in the first round senior
Jason McKeon said, "Those Huskies went around
the nation last summer and that made me feel we
could play and compete with the best."
In the second round, luck was not on their
side and Benson beat them for the second time.
Junior Kevin Koch rapped up the season by
saying, "We worked as hard as everyone else and
we knew we could be proud of ourselves."
While the varsity team was working their
way up, the JV team was doing just as well . They
started off slowly by losing three straight games,
but popped right back and won nine straight. JV
Coach Dave Buckley said he thought the team
was the best he had seen and he had high hopes
for them in the future.
Both teams ended up with lots of victories
to be proud of.
