Pride Grows
A
thletics took up a big part of the
school year for many students.
Pep rallies for season openers and
state finals helped rouse the spirit of most
students at this school-although they
did not need much help.
People filled the stands to watch such
teams as the boys varsity basketball and
varsity volleyball defeated their oppo-
nents time after time. Even groups like
the tennis and golf teams who did not
draw as many followers, continued to car-
ry on the winning tradition. Each team
that went to a state competition made the
school's pride and spirit grow.
The players themselves spent a lot of
time practicing and perfecting their
sport. T earns began to practice as early
as six in the morning and stayed late into
the night to insure victory in each game.
Cheering on victories for this school
were the cheerleaders, rifle squad, and
drill team. In their own right, they, too,
were winners. They not only haq more
spirit than the other teams' squads, but
several groups also participated in region-
al competitions and summer camps, and
showed that they were also the best in
their fields.
No matter if it was from the stands,
the sidelines, or the actual playing field,
students at this school gave their all to
guarantee that, game after game, each
team carried on the tradition of Hanging
the the Competition out to Dry. fN
