G
olf season ended with the State Golf
Tournament at Firethorn Country
Club, which is a Scottish golf course.
The boys proved up to the challenge of the
course with their twelth place finish.
"As a whole, it was a pretty good season,
and we had a pretty good time." That is how
Sophomore Tom Bentley described the boys'
golf season.
Boys' Golf Coach Rick Baker said, "I am
really pleased with the season. The team made
a large improvement over last year."
The varsity posted a 7-1 season, while the
JV team finished 5-2. The varsity's only loss
came against Ralston by only five strokes, 166-
161.
Baker said that the team's comradery had
really developed and grown as the year pro-
gressed, and helped the team's attempt at the
State Tournament.
He felt the strong point of the team was
the leadership of the seniors and especially Se-
nior Todd Chipman, who returned to the num-
ber one spot. He placed i!l the top ten at almost
every invitational. At Metro he placed seventh
while at Districts he came away with first.
The team also consistently placed within
the top ten at the major tournaments. The JV
placed fifth in both the invitationals they at-
tended. tN
