One of the most dreaded assignments was a research project.
Students expressed emotions of disfavor and often were known to
put off the research and writing of the paper until the last minute.

ever, some students felt pride in their accomplishment after having
spent hours perfecting their paper.
Interest in the assigned topic gave students more motivation
than topics that were boring. "'Research papers are more enjoyable
when the subject is easy to relate to. My mass media research paper
was easy because it was over the media, which I am familiar with,"
senior Chase Thomsen said .
Methods of research varied. The internet was a good source
of information and the access was easy. Encyclopedias and books
offered a more traditional approach to research . Unfortunately, some
students received or chose topics which were tedious to research .
"Freshman year, I had to do a research paper on the Loch
Ness Monster. I couldn't find any info on the topic, so I had to get an
extension on my project," junior Angie Keegan said.
For some, research projects were an undesired quest for
knowledge, but others approached the task as an opportunity to
expand their horizons.
