"I JOined the chess club because I've been playing
the game s1nce I was 1n the third grade, and !love
playing games where I have to think and come up with
many different strategies," chess club president
sophomore John Lin said.
Whether 1t was writing, hav 1ng an interest in
other cultures or thinking hard, there was something
for everyone .
"I've always enjoyed writing . I have wntten
lots and lots of poetry because it's JUSt a really fun
hobby that I have . That's why I dec1ded to JOin the
literary magazine club, so I can share my wor k w1th
everyone in the school," sophomore Octavia Butler
SCIId.
All of these clubs shared a few common inter-
ests. They were not very well known by many of the
students and were alw9ys eager to find new members .
"One th1ng that I'd like to see happen for the
Spanish club is a larger number in the membership. Right
now we only have three people in the club . It's a fun
group, we do numerous activities and more people
would be great," senior Candace LeGrow said .
The club which had a noticeable rise in members
was the chess
club . "lh:" ITL,~1clC~1t;t dul.., w .:10 _~u~;;t a fu11

VJhatever the reason was for joining a club,
students were able to share common interests with
others, and have a great time. 207
