While mo students typically owned a cat or a

dog, their reasons for owning them varied. Some trul y
believed dogs were man's best friend, while others thought
their guinea pig was the best.
According to junior Ashley Coogan , she couldn 't
resist an animal when she saw it in a pet store. That was
the case for her when she saw her two dogs. However,
she took her cat in her home when she found it astray.
"I couldn 't wait to get my dog, Misty from a
breeder in Atkinson , NE. As soon as we picked her up, she
rode the whole way home on my lap," sophomore Liz

Like Marty, sophomore Megan Banghart , bought
her dog from a breeder. However, this time her Cavalier
King Charles Spaniels came from Indiana. Banghart's dogs
were bred from King Charles ' dogs in London.
"Because my dogs originally came from London ,
they are royal. I had to name them using Princess or Lady.
Princess Abby and Lady Lexi are definitely treated like
royalty in our house. They are so spoiled. they get hot
chicken to eat every day for lunch ," Banghart said
Sophomore Keri Halvorson 's dad was allergic to
dogs, so she opted for a guinea pig, named Hershey
"Even though Hershey can't cuddle with me, I know
the little buddy is always waiting for me when I get home,"
Halvorson said.
