Both teams started and finished the season strong and in style. The varsity girl s controlled the bases all
the way to state with 20 wins and six losses.
"It took a lot of preparati on to get as far as we did this year. We did a lot of field work, and the outfield
worked reall y hard on bein g faster at throwing accurate. Varsity reall y worked to push themselves as far as
they could," senior Alaina Novotny said.
With a vari ati on of win s and losses, there were many memorable games.
"During the first day of state we played Westside, whi ch was the best game because we were all pumped
up , and it made us hit and pl ay reall y amazing," soph omore Kelsie Novotny said.
Each pl ayer on both teams had their own way of getting themselves pumped and excited to pl ay.
"Music was a reall y bi g thing, like rap and all th at good stuff even though most the varsity team was
totall y into country music. (Soph omore) Jenny Brown and I always stuck to the rap," junior Hannah Smith
said .
With cl ass on the field and camaraderie outside, the softball team was able to conn ect with one another
as a family.
"Varsity softball had a few sleepovers and many fun team carb dinners on the ni ghts before games to get
us focused on the game ahead," sophomore Jenny Brown said.
Junior varsity girl s had many of the same rituals during their season of eight wins and fo ur losses.
"We practi ced everyday and before each game we had wannups for 30 minutes, and then we were ready
to play the game," sophomore Jordan Nichols said.
Although they were two different teams, they had one goal of playin g their best, and they proved that by
having a winning season and working together.
