Students supported their hope for a better world by reaching out to charities,
volunteering, and doing their part to go green and help their community.
It started with the simple outreac h of a hand, through voluntee ring, recy-
cling, or helping the community in the hopes of making the worl d just a bit
better. Both inside and outs ide of school, students focused on one goa l: mak-
ing a positive impact.
For junior Megan Swanson, helping others was a simply a matter of creat-
in g an organization base d on her pass ion of fas hion, but would also hi t home
with fell ow students .
"I had a teacher sponso r me and started the program j eans for Teens. You
ca n't do anything with jea ns you grow out of, so donating is a great option. I
ended up getting 125 pairs," Swanso n sa id.
Some students are going gree n in their own homes, like se ni or Elizabeth
Tompsett.
"I fee l like I'm making a difference when I recycl e. I kn ow I'm helping the
world, even if it's just one milk ca rton at a time," Tompsett sa id .
Volunt ee rin g was also a popular way to ea rn se rvice hours and give back
commun to the co mmunity.
Voluntee r work took junior Ashley Circo all the way to an orphanage in
