ennis became a game
T
against the wind, rain, and
snow rather than strong
competition.
Even though snow during
Easter vacation practice forced
the team indoors at Miracle Hills,
light rain in a game against
Millard South didn't stop the
match.
However, wind was the
greatest setback. Team
members felt they played
against the wind rather than
their opponent a good deal of
the season.
Of the ten members on the
team, Senior Lisa Scnrader held
first seat, Junior Kendra Steward
second, Junior Lisa Ryan third,
Sophomore Patty Dingfield
fourth, and Junior Mandy Moore
fifth. Sixth seat was played by
the remaining team. Both Ding-
field and Steward finished with a
winning record.
Schrader, who played tennis
for three years but only compet-
ed for one, said Coach John
Carroll put in a lot of time and
effort putting a team together.
"The team did really well
considering nearly half the team
had never before picked up a
tennis racket for serious compe-
tition," Schrader added.
Steward also felt inexper-
ience hurt the team. "We lost
seniors last year so that wea-
kened the original team, but
there is lots of potential for next
year."
With the completion of the
home courts set for next year,
the team is looking forward to
not traveling to Millard South for
matches and Niehardt Elemen-
tary for daily practices.
With a strong forehand Junior Mandy
Moore returns the ball in a match.
