Up's And
Down's
T his year's Mustangs certainly had -
plenty of ups and downs this season.
The Mustangs started off very slowly
with eight consecutive losses. "The lowest
point in the season, I feel, was the Omaha
Ryan game during the Metro Holiday
Tournament in which we lost in the first
round 57-63, after this loss I decided we
should change our whole game plan," said
Coach Gerald Johnette.
This new game plan plus people coming
back from injuries and sickness did the job.
The Mustangs went on to win six games
straight after the Omaha North game. This
winning streak was highlighted by the
victory over the Mill!lrd South Indians.
"This was definitely the high point in the
season. There was so much enthusiasm with
the full gym, the players getting their hair
cut and the four overtimes, all that made the
game really memorable," Coach Johnette also
added.
Johnette also got a "butch" after the
game which he had promised to do if the
team won.
The Mustang's winning streak was
broken abruptly by Bellevue West in the first
round of the District tournament, in which
we lost 61-51. This was a surprise to most
because we had beaten Bellevue West earlier
in the season. .,
Although the teams record was not a
winning one statistically, 7-11 , the coach and
the players felt it was a good season.
