victory for the team.
Coaches do
just about
everything
P
eople tend to think that all a coach
does is appear at sporting events, tell
his players what to do and yell at the
officials once in a while. But coaches do an
awful lot more.
Coaches start out the year by going to
coaching seminars, which are usually
conducted by other high school or even some
college coaches. Information is gathered on
how practices should be conducted, on how
to better use their respective sports budgets
or listen to other coaches on how to use
better offensive and defensive schemes for
their teams.
When the sports season arrives, coaches
must make the decision on which players to
put on the varsity and JV teams or which
players are to be cut from the team. The
coaches then must distribute uniforms to the
!lewly formed team members. After the
formalities are over with, the coaches go into
the process of sending his/ her players
through rigorous practice sessions. Then the
season begins. Hopefully by the first game,
the coach has his/ her players ready for
competition.
