ho woke before the crack of
dawn, came to school in curlers
and an array of strange clothes,
and carried such things as cakes, doughnuts,
and balloons?
Yep, that's right, the Drill Team!
The Squad was made up of twenty-one
girls, who danced away at Pep Rallies,
Basketball and Football games.
Although it look fun. there was a lot of
effort and very hard work.
Junior Angie Weber said, "Drill Team is
a good experience. You get more involved in
games than other people because we really
sit and watch what's going on. Sometimes
though, it's a pain with all the practicing and
hard work."
Along with the hard work and long hours
of practice, there were alot of good and
special times. For instance, kidnapping
seniors, certain band contests and learning
songs from the Caption, and winning a
trophy for best routine at summer camp.
Junior Michelle Van Horn said, "We have
a really close squad. We're all good friends
and hang around with each other. It's fun."
There were many rewards being on the
squad. Said Senior lisa Ryan, ''I'm on Drill
team for myself and for others, I guess I just
want everyone to feel as good as I do when
I perform."
Along with the drill team was the Rifle
Squad and Twirler, Kim Reinke.
Although Rifles sometimes got a bad
review and hard time they were very good
at what they did.
Practices were held every day, and if
anyone tried spinning a rifle like they did,
people would think before they said
anything.
To account for Color Guards success
was sponsor Pam Butcher who dedicated a
lot of her time and effort.
Junior lisa Cardwell stated, "Because of
Drill team, my attitude about school and
spirit really improved. I don't know what I'd
do without it."
Ranked as the best twirler in the state. is Sophomore Rifle Squad. Back Row , Missy Hamer. Angie Hamer, Linda
