Proper grips are important in competition. Coach

to approach his event.
Discipline
sparks team
T umbling, vaulting, and the bars are
parts of gymnastics. These are major
areas and need to be done well in
order to compete, but discipline seemed to
play an important role. Coach Mark Williams
felt that discipline helped the boys' team to
state, and there take a fourth place spot.
A quick way to get Millard North to state
was to break old school records at almost
every major meet of the season. Senior Jon
Steen broke the record for the still rings,
parallel bars, and all-around. Juniors Ken
Kirchner and Andy Robinson were top in the
events floor exercise, vault, high bar, and
pommel horse.
Overall, both the boys and girls teams
showed twenty point improvements from the
beginning of the year. Williams said that the
girls team competed for a spot at the state
meet because they progressed so much. The
boys' placed fourth at state showed all the
hard work that they put into the sport
Williams also said.
Displaying her talent on the balance beams during
strenuous competition is Junior Missy Adams.
Steady and even are the legs of Junior Ken Kirchner
as he competes on the parallel bars for a spot at state.
