bound-Is it a bird? Is it a plane?
No, it's super-intendents <and principals
and all of the administrators)!
Did this seem exaggerated? In some
ways, it was, but some people did consider
them to be super-human . They had to give
quick solutions, such as was it really
snowing enough to cancel school?
Administrators also dealt with more
difficult problems. lnservices were an
example . They had to provide topics of
interest and use such as Beginning
Computers, Bank Street Writer, Mastery
Learning, operating a video camera, or
instruction in the Madeline Hunter Model of
teaching.
Struggling through controversies as the
Merit Pay Program, Principal Ike Pane said ,
''I'm doing the best job I can to make it
work."
Unexpected problems also arose
throughout the year, such as the$1 0,000
..... worth of damage from the vandalism.
Thanks to the work of many people, there
was no delaying school.
Bad things, however, -were not the
only issue . The school put in new snack
machines that gave students a wide choice,
from hot chocolate to soup and snack

Board Meeting
Routine items, such as staff meetings
and evaluations were also part of their
jobs. But as the school year ended, their
work was really not done. They had to still
plan for the next school year.
