                        Thrives

eeping up with the excellence record
        K
was the Speech and Debate teams.
For those who liked to make their
point clear, this was a great way to have ....
fun doing it and reap the rewards at the
        same time.
            There were numerous tournaments
held throughout the year, most at area high
schools, although some were farther away
        like Kearney and Norfolk.
The Speech team won many trophies,
as did the debaters, and always had
someone place at least third. At the
        Creighton University contest, the teams
brought home the Sweepstakes award for
        best school.
A major highlight for team members
was when they brought home the Sweep-
stakes trophy from the Westside Speech
and Debate Contest held in early February.
Debaters had their hands full with the
        resolution which was against unemploy-
ment. A big question for them was would
they be for it or against it?
