This was one of many proverbs entered
into Foreign Language Week, which was five
days of learning about and experiencing
other cultures.
Held 2-4-11 , Foreign Language Week
offered many activities for students to
participate in . There were trivia, face
painting, and costume contests. Along the
food line was a teachers' breakfast, a taco
eating contest and a jalepeno pepper eating
contest. And of course, there was the
traditional food day.
In addition to the fun things, there were
some serious events planned. A food drive
was held in order to help the needy of
Omaha. Also, fundraisers were held in order
to obtain money for a display case in the
foreign language department.
Aside from the activities week, students
remained busy with Spanish, French, and
German Club activities. There were dinners,
breakfasts, hayrack rides, conventions and
picnics for interested participants.
Also, the Span ish Club chose to sponsor
a Bolivian girl named Sandra Vidaurre,
through the Christian Children's Fund, Inc. Th is
was a first time experience for the club.
Many students felt that language was
very important as Senior Jill Dagerman stated,
"If you take enough years it will help you in
college."
