W students could enter the Literary

Amy Schlupp Magazine contest.
Mike Selman Ten and fifteen dollar gift certificates to
Cris Shaner Little Professor, Art World, Standard Blue and
Rockbrook Camera were given to the winner of
each individual category while $25 cash was given
to Senior Tracy Arp for the best all-around entry.
For Arp, it was a last chance for her to get her
Greg Sharpe poetry published before she graduated. Other
Steve Sheeley winners in the contest were: first place in poetry
Keith Shelton went to Sophomore Conlon Ladd for his poem
Tracey Shusta "The Dragon"; second place went to Freshman
Jason Frazen for his poem "In This World" and
third place went to Sophomore Madra Wright for
her poem entitled " Nicht Weniger" . The first
place art award was given to Frazen for his "Girl's
Jason Siebels Locker" while second place went to Junior Pat
Chelsea Siedschlag German for his " Old Man with the Violin " . The
Suzanne Silaz one award in the short story category was given
Ted Silence
to Sophomore Kelly Stiefel for her story about the
"Grandfather" and the one photography award
was given to Senior Phil Long for his photo
"Train".
The Literary Magazine Board met at least
Erick Ska vdahl once a week to go over new materials that had

Chris Smith been turned in . These entries were each assigned
Tacia Smith a point value of 0-3, 3 being the highest. This
helped to determine which pieces would be
published in the magazine.
After much thought, "Journey into your
Imagination" was the theme chosen. Other
John Snelling themes that were seriously considered were
Debbie Soukup "Collage" and the "Writes of MN ".
Karen Soukup The Literary Magazine proved to a sounding
Scott Spaulding board for many aspiring writers whose work might
have otherwise gone unnoticed.
