D uring their November-April season the
Forensics team won over 106 awards.
                      Consistent top first place winners
included Karen Lalley in Dramatic Interpretation
and Kathy Kautz in Humorous Interpretation
                However individuals working together
brought team strength, too. Foresics Coach, Terry
Peterson, said this was "a very successful year"
            due to the team effort.
It was this team effort that helped them win
the Creighton Prep Classic. They placed first out
of 30 schools. Peterson thought this win was
important because there were "many top
            schools" competing there.
                However before competition began there
was a lot of planning. Selection of materials was
determined by contest rules and student ability .
Students doing Dramatic interps needed to be
able to make as many as six characters seem, as
Peterson said, "as distinct and different as
            possible." Oratories covered "tomorrow's news,"
which included such topics as Midwives vs R.N.'s,
Positive thinking and College Sports recruiting.
Once pieces were chosen, the teams had to
commit themselves to competitions. Many tourna-
ments were on weekends which meant students
had to give up their free time to compete.
Junior Robyn Bradsby said she didn't mind
giving up weekends to forensic meets because
she, "enjoyed tournaments so much, I couldn't
think of doing anything else." Junior Tabitha
Hiner agreed, saying she enjoyed tournaments
because it gave her a chance, "to show what I had
            learned."
