aseball. It was not only a game that
was played on the baseball fields, but
on the stage as well in the form of the
musical comedy "Damn Yankees."
It was unique because it was a more light-
hearted type than in past spring plays. Also
there were more special effects utilized. How-
ever, all of those effects were not necessarily
easy to pull off. According to Junior Jeff Biv-
ens, who played the devil, it was a real chal-
lenge because sometimes the special effects
failed so "I had to improvise occasionally."
Also adding to the play was the use of
more students outside of drama. "I really felt
this contributed to a cast that really worked
well together. Besides it was the kind of play
that made for easier acting. We could play our-
selves almost and that was fun,"" said Senior
Dave Kramer.
According to Director Terry Peterson 55
students tried out for the 33 parts. Seven of
those receiving parts had never done a play
with Peterson.
Contributing to the success of the play
were the people behind the scenes. There
were many volunteers who put in work time
during spring break and even on snow days.
Looking back at the play, Peterson said
that the three-night performances drew one
of the largest crowds for a spring play in at
least the last four years. IN
