Boys Improve
As Districts •
Draws Near
For the boys varsity basketball team.
the season was one in which to improve.
That is just what they did.
They started the season with only one
.._ .. ._~~-~~~!~!:,~., player that had varsity experience. so
coach Gerald Johnette was not surprised
that the season started of with a few very
close losses.
However. where other teams would
have given up when faced with a record
of 3-10 at midseason. the team got the ex-
perience it needed and came back with
a record of 5-2 for the second half of the
season . They also placed third in their divi-
sion .
As Coach Gerald Johnette said, "I was
really pleased with the improvement the
kids showed. They were the best group as
far as working hard and tr)dng to do what
they were told to."
Johnette's aim was to play their best
at Districts , and by the time they reached
it they were playing what he felt was their
best.
Once they got the experience, they
were able to learn what it took to win with
the final few points. In that way, they were
able to take many of the close games that
they would have lost in the beginning and
