High, But Not

Out of Reach

It takes time, energy, hard work,
determination, and self-control to make
lifetime goals a reality , and for three stu-
dents they 're on their way right now.
Junior Roni Connell has been
working for a year and a half as a dental
assistant for her dad. On Saturdays , they
usually worked on the teeth of inmates at
the county jail, which gave her a chance to
meet some "interesting " people. She was
also able to use some of her four years of
Spanish on patients. Connell said, "I
really want to go into engineering, but if
all else fails, I could fall back on my
experience as a dental assistant. It could
also help put me through school because
I'm able to put some of the money away
for college."
After working day to day im-
proving her basketball skills, Sophomore
Michelle Caverhill hopes to come one
step closer to making her goal happen.
Because of her love for basketball, she
didn't mind practicing six days a week.
Because of the experiences that she re-
ceived from playing on the Girls Varsity
Basketball team, she felt that she was one
step closer to her goal-playing college
basketball . Caverhill said, "I hope that I
will get the chance to play college basket-
ball on a scholarship for either UCLA or
Indiana."
When it came to deciding upon
her career, Senior Wendy SoreJRn knew

Wendy Sorensen Kim Stem she wanted to be a fashion designer. She
Cathy Spear Bri an Steventon took several home economic, sewing, and
Aaron Staack Paige Steward fashion merchandising courses that would
help prepare her for this career choice.
She had already been sewing for family
and friends, and last summer she was able
to work with a local clothing designer,

Sorensen.
These were just some of the
students who showed that through hard
work and determination, life-time dreams
can come true.
