Girls Win At
Districts
The Girls Varsity and JV soccer
teams built up their strength and ver-
satility throughout the year, and both
teams ended the season bringing
home many victories withthe varsity
team winning districts and playing at
state.
JV coach Jeff Pulverenti said,
"As the year progressed, the girls re-
ally began to play as a team. I feel we
accomplished a lot this year pertain-
ing to gaining soccer skill and soccer
knowledge."
Both the JV and Varsity teams
had to overcome many difficulties
and set goals for themselves. Sopho-
more Lynne Officer said," I wanted to
win Districts and beat Marian and
Duchesne at State. I also wanted to
get a goal before the end of the
season."
The Varsity team had other
struggles to deal with such as wanting
to beat certain teams. Sophomore
Robin Harris said, "Papillion was chal-
_lenging for our team at first ,but with
improvement, we were able to run
the field as fast as them, anp we de-
feated them twice."
The JV girls also had a memo-
rable game. The team beat Ralston
6-0. The game was remembered not
only for the victory ,but because it was
the first game during the season that
Coach Jeff Pulverenti saw them play
as a team.
Playing as a team payed off
because the varsity team became
District champions. To help with the
win, Senior Tammy Swartz scored a
goal against Platteview from the right
corner with less than two minutes left
in the first half. Although the varsity
girls won at districts they were beat
out of the first game at state.
