Team Flawless
Until State Play
Serve, hit, smash . Forehand,
backhand, forehand. These are just
some of the drills that helped the Girls
Tennis Team win every match during the
regular season.
Helping individually were such
players as Senior Jean Fougeron who
won first at the papillion invite while suf-
fering through the flu .
During the early season, playing
Central was the biggest confidence
builder because all the doubles and
singles ' teams won first .
The team was more than just
hitting and playing games after that.
Everyone really encouraged each other
and "there were a lot of helpful pep
talks, " JuniorTera Hocevar said. Hocevar
also said that playing the game was
more mental this year than just hitting.
"I !think that our girls tennis team did a
great job, and I hope to see the team do
as well in the following years," she said.
Certain schools made competi-
tion tougher. Senior Sarah Kolasinsk i
predicted that Burke would be a tough
contender at Metro and State, and they
were. The Mustangs lost all four of their
final events at Metro and number one
singles Kerry Lammers was defeated by
Burkes Ashley Miskell.

Hustle plays a big role in tennis. Senior Jenny
Nelson runs to the other side of the court to try and
save the ball before it bounces out. (Heather
Thomas)
Junior Jodi Fougeron prepares for the ball to come
over to her side. While waiting she judges where
she should be to hit the ball to the best of her
ability. (Heather Thomas)
