District  Play



                                                                                 Disappointing





                                                                                        Despite losing  twelve players
                                                                                 from last  year's team, boys varsity set
                                                                                 their hopes high for the season.  Players
                                                                                 looked toward the State tournament
                                                                                 anxiously,  but  a  young team,  com-

                                                                                      Team members  agreed that the

                                                                                 "It  wasn't  as  good of a  year as  was
                                                                                 expected. We were a good team, bet-
                                                                                 ter than our record showed, but the
                                                                                 overall team chemistry wasn't there."
                                                                                        The  team ended their season
                                                                                 with a 7-7  record, winning the last four of
                                                                                 five games in  the regular season.  Con-
                                                                                 fidence was high entering the District
                                                                                 tournament, but the team suffered a
                                                                                 disappointing  loss  in  overtime to under-
                                                                                 dogs Bellevue West.
                                                                                        The  Junior Varsity team finished
                                                                                 the season  with an 8-4  record.  This  is
                                                                                 contributed to a  strong defense.  Said
                                                                                 Coach  Tom  Mosser , "We had ... the best
                                                                                 defensive  team in  a long time."
                                                                                 -      Also a young team, practice was
                                                                                 a very  important factor in the success of
                                                                                 the team. Daily conditioning included
                                                                                 running four miles, followed by sprints  as
                                                                                 well as drills  and occasional scrimmages.
                                                                                        Both teams are  anxiously await-
                                                                                 ing  next year's season, with hopes of
                                                                                 improving on past mistakes and playing
                                                                                 up current strengths.  Said  Junior Kevin
                                                                                 Cargile, "Next year will  be awesome-if
                                                                                 we get our stuff together."
