.I.Y.Ll>3U.v.u Hernandez enjoyed her Integrated Physical Science class
because the labs interested her.
"We made clouds in pop bottles by putting water and a blown out match in it,
and then we twisted the caps back on. The water mixed with the smoke and
made a really weird-looking cloud. It was just super-duper cool," Hernandez
said.
Art classes gave two students a chance to experience different techniques.
"My favorite type of drawings to do were the abstract ones because they are
unique and not typical," sophomore Nic Bellavia said.
Another student said she liked her art class because of the diversity of the
medium. Junior Amanda Riedl said that she likes to do charcoal and pastel
drawings and "just basic graphic drawings."
Sometimes hands-on experiences led to other experiments.
"In my Everyday Foods class, we taped our fingers together and put on
prescription glasses and cotton in our ears. Then we were told to bake a cake
following the normal instructions. It gave us a feel for what older people go
through as their senses become impaired," sophomore Abbie Ladwig said.

Not only did hands-on activities offer a well-deserved break in the school day,
