The reserve football team dominated the season, only losing
to Millard West, while the freshman team split its season record
4-4, and the JV boys ended at 6-2.
The JV boys took advantage of its strong defense and
offense_ One of the more exciting games was against Millard
West. The boys led the game 47-6 into the fourth quarter and
finished 47-26_
"The team played great all four quarters. Zach Vaiskunas
played a huge role on defense," junior Justin Wegener said.
The reserve team won seven out of eight games, and in four
of those games, they crushed the opposing team by at least 20
points_ In the game against Prep sophomore Ben Eggert
scored two touchdowns and the defense had a shut out in the
second half of the game_
"The whole team was pumped for the Prep game because
we lost last year_ We all played our hearts out to gain
revenge," Eggert said.
The freshmen had lasting impressions of some of their
games. In the game against the Northwest Huskies, the
defense almost had a shut out, but the Huskies finally scored in
the last minute of play.
"The game against Northwest was really cool. Freshmen
football was awesome! We went out on the field and took
them down, we really worked hard as a team," freshman
Patrick Maher said.
To prepare for upcoming games, the coaches did a number
of different things to help their players. The coaches had the
players watch old game tapes and tapes from the previous
game, so they could fix their mistakes. Players prepared, too.
"To prep for a game, I get dressed and put on my war paint,
then I listen to my favorite songs on my CD player," freshman
Trevor Fri1z said.
In retrospect all three teams showed a definite dominance
over their opponents.
