Students create a variety of clubs to fulfill a range of interests
Photography Club led by Alex Elfering, ll
The sound of the shutter echoed around the hallways and
classrooms. The source of the sound was a photography club
tasked with capturing th e sights of MN all within 30 minutes.
"I liked being able to use a different camera and go around
and take pictures of my view of the school," sophomore Ra-
chel Rodgers said.
Members used a wide variety of techniques to capture thei r
own views of the school including using unconventional angle
for their photos.
"I enjoyed taking photos of different perspectives and of ord i
nary things that just look cool," junior Tailong Xu said.
While their jaunt lasted just 30 minutes, members were ex-
cited for the opportunity to continue to progress their photogra
phy skills.
Politics Club. The very mention of such a name usually conjures up a
deep hatred or fear of students yelling at each other with faces reddened
by the intense debate.
"[Politics Club] is a casual thing where opinions are welcomed, but tem-
pers are not. We breakdown the issue beyond partisan views and get at
the core of that issue," senior Rob Cronkleton said.
However, club members tried to transcend the stereotypical anger and
opinions, by instead confronting complex issues at their most basic level,
which encouraged members to stay informed on current topics.
"It's nice to learn about what's going on and be forced to look up informa-
tion that I wouldn't normally look up," senior Somi Singh said.
By confronting controversial topics, members moved beyond current
events and began to develop their views and recognized their own biases.
