Memories
T
hrough our years at Mil-
lard, we have collected
many memories. If it were
possible, we might save them
in a box. What would you put
in your memory box?
From your elementary
school days, you might save
one of your favorite art
projects done on your favorite
color of construction paper.
After all , you fought half the
class for that color of paper.
Will you remember your
teacher while she passed out
letters to the oldest and only
children, stopping and staring
at you just because she was
not sure? Certainly you would
save a picture of your little
league team. Your parents
• might add a faded snapshot
of you on the first day of
school. And would you ever
forget how crazy your class
looked during tornado drills ,
lined up against the waiL all of
you looking as though you
were about to do somersaults.
What would you save in
your memory box from junior
--- high? Would you keep your
honor pass, the one that you
kept forgetting to take out of
your jeans pocket before your
mother washed them? Un-
, doubtedly, you could find
other things for your memory
box in those pockets too, like
a comb or a note to a friend.
Would your parents save the
memory of standing in the
back of the gym during your
seventh grade concerts
because they arrived late?
Would you remember the
crazy things you did at a
slumber party during a gossip .
session in the pit after lunch? ·
Surely you would save a
packet of Pop Rocks , that
highly explosive candy that
drove your math teacher
Junior class board served breakfast insane . Well you would if you
for the seniors on the day of
commencement. (Continued on page 40)
