                                                                                         panish, French, German, and Latin  are
                                                                                         four foreign languages whose populari-
                                                                                         ty have grown and become known as
                                                                                   "four more semesters needed for college".
                                                                                       Junior  Connie Kramer said, "I really didn't
                                                                                   know how serious people were when they said
                                                                                   more and more colleges were requiring two to
                                                                                   three years of a foreign language, so I figured
                                                                                   starting my  junior year I better get my  two
                                                                                   years of another language in."
                                                                                       One thing used to promt)te the different
                                          -
                                                                                   languages was by the clubs that were formed."

                                                                                   "It  not only brought together students with a
                                                                                   common interest on a social basis, but it also

                                                                                   helped to get more kids interested."
                                                                                       Only two languages had sponsors to form
                                                                                   clubs,  German and Spanish.  Thus  each had
                                                                                   their share of excitement ranging from visit-
                                                                                   ing  restaurants, ice  skating, and holdir;g  a
                                                                                   Christmas party.
                                                                                       The German club  sponsored the Christ-
                                                                                   mas party for German foreign exchange stu-
                                                                                   dents living in  Omaha and those students who
                                                                                   were in  German clubs in  Omaha schools. Thir-
                                                                                    ty  people came to sit and visit with each of
                                                                                   the exchange students and helped themselves
                                                                                   to a wide assortment of refreshments.
                                                                                       For  every language there was a different
                                                                                   atraction, and no matter what their reason for
                                                                                   taking a foreign  language, students found each
                                                                                   one to be a  test of their abilities.
