"Debate was a method of channeling my

nior John Koenig . "It gave me a way to ex-
press my political and moral views while re-
maining calm." Like Koenig, Sophomore
Chris Reade found debate a good solution for
aggression. "When I got frustrated, I knew
that I could assert my energy through debate
and make it worthwhile."
Researching, writing, speaking, and being
prepared were vital elements in a debate
round. These things enabled a debator
to always stay one step ahead of an oppo-
nent. lN
